The Zucchi story is one of remarkable resilience and determination, a tale that echoes the very essence of the stones they meticulously sculpt. Born into a family of nine siblings, Jonas Zucchi, our president and founder, learned from an early age the value of perseverance and focus, instilled by his mother’s emphasis on education.

Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Jonas’s formative years were shaped by the profound curiosity and wisdom acquired from the pages of books, including Norman Vincent Peale’s seminal work, “The Power of Positive Thinking.” This philosophy became his guiding light, empowering him to overcome obstacles and pursue his dreams with renewed vigor and entrepreneurial vision.

Zucchi Revolution: Transforming the Industry

In 1994, at the age of 42, Jonas Zucchi embarked on a bold venture that would forever change not only his life, but the landscape of the natural stone industry.

With an audacious vision of acquiring raw materials like granites and quartzites, polishing them to perfection using modern equipment and technology, and exporting them to the worldwide market, he defied conventional wisdom and forged a path that many deemed improbable and even impossible. The early days were marked by challenges, including a pivotal incident where their first machine tumbled from the truck upon arrival at the factory gates.

Yet, this setback ignited a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement and constant investment in research and development, traits that would become ingrained in Zucchi’s purpose of reinventing the industry.

Conquering New Frontiers

In 1995, Zucchi achieved a milestone that would propel their journey to new heights – the sale of their first container of granite to the United States. Without the aid of GPS or Google Maps, the team embarked on an uncertain quest, scouring telephone directories for the “Granite” section, determined to introduce the world to the beauty of Brazilian Natural Stone.

This extraordinary sense of determination and audacious vision laid the foundation for Zucchi’s meteoric rise, as they consistently sought to elevate the natural stone industry to unprecedented levels of excellence and expand into the exporting market across the Americas.

The Polimento Italiano Legacy: Revolutionizing Quality

In 1997, Zucchi’s commitment to innovation took another significant stride with the establishment of Polimento Italiano. Despite the initial challenges of training four shifts for 90 days without a single client in sight, their dedication paid off handsomely. Polimento Italiano ushered in a new era of quality for natural stones from Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, introducing Brazil’s first resin line, coinciding with a surge in slab exports.

This transformative period witnessed a remarkable growth in the number of polishing facilities, from four to thirty within just two years, solidifying Polimento Italiano’s pivotal role in shaping the market’s evolution through practicality and diversity.

Zucchi’s mission has always been clear: to take the beauty of Brazilian natural stones to the world and to elevate the industry globally. Rather than owning quarries, they chose to acquire and process materials with quality and professionalism, specializing in high-value, exotic materials that were once unknown.

Although introducing these captivating materials to the burgeoning American market posed challenges, Zucchi’s dedication was rewarded as clients embraced the allure of stones from Brazil with mesmerizing movement and vibrant hues.
