Preserving the beauty of natural stones

This week we will explore how to properly Care for Natural Stones. Regardless of where it is applied, it’s crucial to be aware of the necessary conservation guide to keep natural stones beautiful and durable for many years to come. In this blog, Zucchi, with a special partnership of André Zucchi, Stone Trade Specialist, will provide valuable tips to ensure the longevity and splendor of your marble, quartzite, hard marble, and granite surfaces.

Quartzite: The Natural Crystal

Quartzite, with its robustness, stands the test of time. This stone, ranging from 6 to 9 on the MOHS scale, is almost invulnerable to scratches, and its mineral composition makes it resistant to chemical reactions, making it a preferred choice for flooring, countertops, and more.

This is the reason why so many people choose quartzites for their household, this material can withstand everyday use, so no need to worry about your kids spilling juice on the countertops or a clumsy chef scratching the surface with a knife (although watch your fingers!). One material that we highly recommend if you do not want any headaches when it comes to the resistance, beauty and longevity is our one and only Taj Mahal quartzite. You can read more about this mesmerizing material here: link do blog do taj.

Although quartzites are durable, it’s good to avoid prolonged exposure to acidic liquids such as citrus juices, vinegar, and wine. Clean them up whenever you spill something on them to keep the beauty of quartzites intact. Avoid leaving high acidity liquids like citrus juices, vinegar, coffee, wine, and sauces on the stone for extended periods.

We also recommend to ask your installer to apply one of the many sealants available on the market to make the quartzite surface impermeable. Some of these protection products can last more than 2 years before needing to be reapplied.

Hard Marble: Elegance and Durability

Dolomites epitomize strength when it comes to marbles. Enriched with high levels of magnesium, they withstand daily wear better than their calcite-rich counterparts. This material has it all: the enchanting looks of marbles, the ever so sought after white background, but with more resistance to everyday use.

So, if you want to have the looks and the added durability and resistance, we highly recommend dolomitic marbles! You can read more about them here: link do blog de hard marbles.

As with the quartzites, we recommend to use modern stone sealants to make its surface waterproof. This way, your stone will retain its beauty and shine for years.

Marble: Timeless Beauty

Marbles are witnesses of time. They’ve seen civilizations rise and fall, yet remain unshaken. Although some marbles, especially those rich in calcite mineral, may show signs of wear over time, with proper care, they can be preserved for generations to come.

As with any material, prevention is key. Avoid prolonged contact with acidic substances and use modern stone protectors. To maintain the beauty of marble and prevent usage marks, it’s recommended to apply stone sealants available on the market. These products help make the marble surface impermeable and protect against scratches and stains.

Granite: Durability and Versatility

Granites have been the preferred choice of many for their resilience and varied beauty. With a hardness of 6 to 8 on the MOHS scale, granite remains untouched, even in the busiest kitchens. You can read more about granites in this blog post: link do blog do Granito. Granites are a top choice! Our top choice is Blue Bahia!

While sturdy, it’s always good to be cautious. Prevent scratches by using cutting boards when chopping vegetables or meat. Structurally, maintenance of granite generally requires no special care. Its durability makes it a reliable choice for any application!

Conclusion:

Marbles, granites, quartzites, and dolomites are more than just stones; they are top qualified choices that transform any space. Taking proper care of them is key to maintaining their natural beauty and durability.
